Project Diary: Harlequins

Image
Okay, okay, I know what you’re thinking. Why the heck is he starting a Harlequins army for Warhammer 40,000? First, after I built* my Space Wolves army I realized that they were blue and blue is my son Ben’s favorite color (*never mind that Phobos Lieutenant that needs painting still). Ben has always loved playing with the little blue Ultramarines that I inherited from Sammy after he moved. I didn’t think about it until after I had finished the project but I realized that, maybe one day, Ben may end up playing with Dad’s blue Space Marines. That made me think of my daughter Amelia and what she could possibly play in the future. Some army painted pink and gold, her favorite colors, and that got me thinking about Harlequins.  Secondly, my good friend Luke was recently inoculated with the 40k bug after going on an Army exercise and talking to some buddies there. Luke, my brother, and myself grew up playing the Dawn of War video games, but I was the only one to jump ship over to the pa...

2025 Year in Review

2025 Year in Review Let’s take a quick look at my hobby stats for 2025! I set a goal for 2025 to play more games and to use the toys I spent all this money on. While the creating of the Mole Mini Works blog was a way to move my hobby blogging from social media sites such as Twitter and Instagram, it also had an encouraging effect on the number of games I played. I enjoy putting together the short Battle Reports. What also helped is that I was encouraged by friend and typical X-Wing opponent Brian to creat the war gaming journal that I was thinking of doing. A way to record and track my games through the year, and it was the main source that I referenced to determine some of the Year in Review stats! Games Played: 22 X-Wing : 8 Bolt Action: 3 Warhammer 40k: 11 Now, let’s take a look at the number of games played. I set a goal for the year to play at least 12 games, one a month. There was no specific requirement on which games got played, but if I got one play of each of my favorite game...

Project Diary: Tau Vespid and Pathfinder Reinforcements

Image
Time for another project while my Harlequins sit 30% done. This time, it is working on a few reinforcements for my Tau Empire army. Grey Knight's Luke has asked me to participate in a local Warhammer 40,000 doubles event in late November. After mulling through a few different list ideas (and still working on it...) I finally used it as an excuse to pick up a set of models that I have wanted, but despised, for a long time - Vespids.
