Prologue
When Tom asked about playing a 1000pt game, I knew the day had finally come. About four or five months after starting the Harlequins project back in June, the Pink and Gold clowns were finally going to hit the table! While they were not 100% ready, I had enough painted and primed to get happily get a 1000pt game in!

As it was my first game with the Harlequins, I decided to run a sampler platter of all the units to get a taste of what I liked and what I didn't. Tom and I played a simple game of just primary points, no secondaries, so that should give me a good idea and focus on just knowing the units.

Being close to Halloween, I set up a board that was fairly open and had some spooky pumpkin patches for terrain features. An abandoned highway through old farmland. I could have set up some more spooky trees, but ran out of time with getting the basement cleaned up and the and table set up. But the presence of the Death Guard and Murder Clowns helped add to the spookiness.

Round 1
Initiative went to the Death Guard! They crawled forward slowly, grabbing their two home objectives and taking a few shots, but to no effect. Then it was time for the Harlequins! I moved what Troupes I had into more cover, allowing me to try to get as close as possible before going Sicko the Clown mode. I love how fast the Harlequins move. What shots I did take pretty much bounced off the armor of the Death Guard, I think only a single wound going through on a Plague Marine. This would set the tone for the rest of the game.

Score: πŸŸ₯0 - 🟦0

Round 2
Death Guard's turn 2 will do a significant amount of damage to the Harlequins. Deathshroud and Blighlord drop in the Harlequin backfield and destroy a 5 man Troupe with Shadowseer (stealth doesn't matter when you're being auto-hit!) and the Death Jester sitting on my home objective. However, the Troupes and Troupes with Troupe Master in the midboard does a decent job blendering up the plague marines in the middle.

Again, the Harlequin shotting does minimal damage, inflicting only a single wound on to the Daemon Prince (this will be the only damage the Wraithguard D-Scythes will do across the 30+ shots they manage to make). The -1 BS/WS from the Death Guard aura is really hurting here.

Score: πŸŸ₯5 - 🟦10

Round 3
Round 3 is pretty much more of the same. At this point, I've decided to leave the terminator squads in the back and run everything into the midfield and Death Guard deployment zones. I'm going to have to quickly throw the plague marine squads off their home objectives to try to score some more points

The Troupes do a great job blending up the plague marines with mortal wounds (I'm surprise how much damage the Troupe Master actually put out). The Skyweaver jet bikes also finally start to do some shooting damage with their cannons. In the future I will definitely bring the glaives over the bolas, as the ability for them to get stuck in to melee would be much more useful. The Voidweaver still seems to be out-of-order, continuing to fail to damage anything but a single plague marine.

The Daemon Prince gets stuck in with the Wraithguard and starts to shred them up. The Wraithguard do as much damage in melee combat here as they had during both their previous shooting phases.

Score: πŸŸ₯5 - 🟦20

Round 4
I was able to flip control of two of the Death Guard homefield objectives on Round 4, but not before the DG score 10 more points on Primary. If I can pop the Daemon Prince off the middle objective this time, I can possibly tie the game.

The Troupe Master and company move to engage the Daemon Prince, throwing grenades and doing as best they can to try and get as many mortal wounds off as possible. The Voidweaver pours everything it's got into the Daemon prince too, again failing to inflict any damage.

After a subpar rolls for the grenades strat and  Cegorach's Coil enhancement, the Daemon Prince is left with two wounds remaining! With the Daemon Prince left standing and about to swing back, it was now clear that there was no path forward for the Harlequins.

Score: πŸŸ₯15 - 🟦30

Round 5
Round 5 was played out very quickly. The Blightlord Termis shoot the Voidweaver off the board while Typhus in the Deathshrouds smites the Troupe Master away. With only a single Skyweaver left, I would sit back to score 5 point. But for a moral victory, I attempt to take out the Daemon Prince, who stay standing.

Score: πŸŸ₯20 - 🟦40
