Prologue
It was going to be my first 2000pt game of Warhammer 40,000 in probably 5 years. With the current state of 10th Edition, I need to bring nearly every Tau Model I own to meet the traditional match requirements.

Tom and I decided to play an Open War mission and we drew the Objective Drop mission. Objective drop has a single objective that starts at the center of the battlefield. The players roll off at the start of each battle round and the winner of the roll gets to "kick" the objective 2d6" in any direction they want. Starting at the third battle round, players score a point if they control the objective. The Twist drawn was hatred, units had re-roll wound rolls of 1 if attacking the closet valid target.

Unfortunately due to a family emergency, we were only able to get two(ish) rounds in before I had to pack up and head home. We both walloped each other good during the first turn.
Deployment

Round 1

The KV128 Stormsurge, Hammerhead, and XV88 Broadsides did a lot of damage turn 1. The Stormsurge instantly deleted a Blighthauler with it's damage 12 pulse blast cannon. The Chaos Knight took the brunt of the Broadside squad ending up with just 6 wounds remaining while the Plague Burst Crawler took a railgun shot to be left with 3 wounds.

Tom swings back during his turn to little effect as the Stormsurge tanks most of the fire power. It's 4+ invulnerable save did a lot of work!. The first stealthsuit team is wiped out by the Daemon Prince and Bloat Drone.

No scoring until the start of Round 3.
End of Tau Turn 1
Score: πŸŸ₯0 - 🟦0

Round 2

Round 2 was abbreviated due to the family emergency.  A Bloat Drone and the Plague Burst Crawler are destroyed while the Chaos Knight and Daemon Prince tank the shots put into them. Commander Farsight and his Star Scythe Crisis Suits drop in and due less work than I was expecting against the Plague Marines in the back.

The Chaos Knight then gets the Twinkies out of it's guns and unloads into the Stormsurge, destroying it at the end of Round 2. The Broadsides and Ghostkeel tank their shots well.

No scoring until the start of Round 3. This is where we had to call the match. We hope to have a rematch soon!

Score: πŸŸ₯0 - 🟦0
