I swear, the next time I play an X-Wing game I'll play something other than First Order. After the headache of learning (and forgetting) the XWA FO standard loadouts, I wanted something a little easier to remember all the rules for.
Round 1
A slightly atypical Round 1. A big move forward means Scorch can take a 3 dice shot into the droid Tri-Fighter, leaving it on 1 hull remaining.
Score: 🟥0 - 🟦0
Round 2
Things start to get interesting Round 2. Scorch tries to move up and barrel roll into a location where she can take a Trick Shot at a ship, but the barrel roll is too close and fails. Grudge moves into position to try to start laying down mines while Whirlwind and Dread end up split firing their ordinance. The split fire here hurts because a focus fire shot on Wat could have been crippling.
Round 3
Round 3 sees the FO start to spiral out of control with some dodgy mistakes on my part. The butterfingers dial of 3 straight in lieu of a 3 bank means Whirlwind gets caught in a huge traffic jam and caught in Wat's crosshairs. Couple decent bomb and mine drops though score decent damage, but again I'm too close to make a barrel roll on Grudge work. Rucklin also starts to put some hurt on.
Round 4
Things are not looking good for the First Order at this point. We're putting out decent damage, but cannot seem to seal the deal on any ship. Many of the droid ships are hanging on by 1 or 2 hull left. The 2 point Vultures have already double their worth by scoring objective points. Grudge not being able to make the barrel roll on round 3 means they lose a chance to cluster mine the vulture droids.
Score: 🟥5 - 🟦18Round 5
Butterfinger dial happens again! Rucklin banks the wrong direction, managing to not be able to shoot a single target. Everyone traffic jams in the middle of the board. If Rucklin can survive a round of shooting, then we can head into round 6 still "in the game" and with the opportunity to drop a big mine out. But Rucklin blanks out on green dice and dies with a focus in hand! That seals the deal.
